Solidarity March 2024
We are holding a Solidarity March as part of Nelson Mandela Anti Racism Week at the university of Galway. We will be meeting at the Cathedral at 2pm on Saturday the 23rd of March and we will march together against racism and for equity and equality for all members of society. The March will end at Spanish Arch where we will have speeches, songs, and drumming. All welcome – share wide and far and bring banners, colours, and energy!
Solidarity Rally 2023
Last year, we held our first Solidarity Rally in Galway City to celebrate the diverse population living across Galway communities. We had speakers from diverse backgrounds and life experience sharing their stories and messages with the aim of uniting communities against racism and discrimination in the fight for equality and equity for all.
Connecting Communities Workshop
We are launching our Connecting Communities Workshop as part of Nelson Mandela Anti Racism Week at the university of Galway. The workshops have been developed by representatives who work with marginalised communities on a daily basis to create an informal and safe space for participants to discuss racism and discrimination and learn from the lived experiences of those suffer from its consequences most acutely in our society.

Westside Welcomes All
In the summer of 2023, residents and communities in Galway’s West came together to form a network to welcome new communities to Westside and to promote and celebrate diversity and equality in the community.
The network ran a family community fun day in September with activities, performances and ice-cream to create space for residents to meet one another and create an atmosphere of welcoming, empowerment and understanding in order to counteract negative and stereotypical messaging that aims to divide communities and promote fear.
